An organization known as the Portland/Jamestown/Winterbrook Recreation Committee has elected to name a new playground in memoriam for Jordan Wells, who died tragically on February 29 in a drowning incident.  The committee is hoping to raise approximately $10,000 towards the building of the playground in Jamestown, and online donations can be made via PayPal at www.portlandjamestownwinterbrookrecreation.com.

As mentioned in the Great Big Rock Jam Report during the preceding show, “Iron Maidens”, the free lunchtime concerts from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Harbourside Park made its debut with Pete Mills and the Brad Jefford Trio, and in coming weeks you can catch live performances by the likes of the Ken Shorley Trio, Eastern Wind Ensemble, Ian Foster, Peter Sullivan, Duane Andrews, Anthony Chafe, Fergus & Jim, Denis Parker, John Clarke and Larry Foley, among numerous others.

Toronto-born, St-John’s-based multi-instrumentalist Duncan Cameron and his mates from Bowline will be here in the studios at CHMR next Saturday, at approximately 9 a.m., so I hope you can join me for that.  They’ll be chatting about their upcoming performance at the NL Folk Festival and no doubt other interesting musical ventures on the horizon.
